One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is "what's the best way to hang my wooden sign?" So let's discuss a few hanging options:
1. Mount the sign to a wall
If you're mounting a sign directly on a wall or a flat surface then we highly recommend using Command Strips. They are extremely easy to use, and when you're ready to remove your sign the strips will come off cleanly - no nail holes, peeling paint or sticky residue. So these mounting strips are a perfect way to hang your Narwall decor at a wedding venue or even in your own home so you don't damage the walls.
Here is Nate demonstrating just how easy it is to mount a Narwall sign using command strips:
The medium sized Command Strips can hold up to 12 pounds of weight indefinitely, and that's wayyy more than your sign will actually weigh. Most Narwall signs are under 2 pounds, so you can have peace of mind that it will stay up for a very, very long time.
Command Strips will leave a gap of about an 1/8" between the wall and the sign, which in most cases isn't an issue. But if your lettering is small, and the gap would be more noticeable, then you can use a heavy duty double sided tape. Studio Meraki did a flawless job hanging their logo sign with double sided tape.
2. Mount the sign to a boxwood or hedge wall
Narwall signs are so lightweight that you can easily use clear fishing line to hang your sign on a hedge wall. String the fishing line into the two small holes at the top of the sign, and then tie the words directly onto the leaves/branches behind the words.
3. Hang the sign from above
Every Narwall sign comes with two small holes at the top, unless requested otherwise. So if you looking for a floating look then use clear fishing line to string through the two small holes, knot it, and boom. You're done.
Those are the three most common methods for hanging a Narwall sign, but some of you may have unique situations where those options might not work. If you want hardware on the backside of your sign, we recommend these hangers. They can be pressed or lightly hammered into the back of your sign and reinforced with super glue. Just let us know when you place your order that you'll be using hangers and do not want holes at the top of your sign.
Another product that works great for hanging items temporarily is this reusable mounting putty. This is a good option for the foam board lettering (rather than the wood) because it's made for very lightweight applications.
